- June 24, 2017 - June 25, 2017
10:00 am - 4:00 pm
There’s something magical that happens when wax meets the features of a portrait. Eyes sparkle, shadows deepen and skin takes on a life-like quality. Encaustic adds a unique dimension to the human face, one that I have yet to witness in any other medium.
2 DAY: Under the Skin (Saturday June 24th & Sunday June 25th 10 am – 4pm each day)
PreReq: Intro to encaustic
Recommended: Lets Face It 1 DAY
In order to capture the intense depth that encaustic can offer, we will need some extra time. The two day ‘Let’s Face It’ workshop provides a chance to add layers of medium under two of your original 8×10 inch portraits. I will be contacting you in advance to consult on image selection, and will print your images so they are ready for the workshop. I will also be bringing a transparency of your images to help with underlayer placement. This time we will be transferring the image onto a prepared encaustic surface (steel yourself for some advanced burnishing!) and I will demonstrate options for top layers including
– toner layering
– pan pastel
– accretion effects
In my opinion there isn’t anything quite like the transferred photo image, sandwiched between layers of wax. If you have an interest in going deeper into portraiture and encaustic, this is certainly the workshop for you!
NOTE: $25.00 Supply Fee Payable to Tania on the Day of the Workshop
