Dania Al-Obaidi: abstract-landscape diptych workshops

Dania has been teaching encaustic workshops for several years in Toronto, ON. She studied Fine Arts at Baghdad University and has continued further training in Canada alongside extensive exhibitions in North America and internationally.  She is passionate about abstract painting using encaustic. This ancient medium challenges her with its process: the heating and cooling catches the dynamic of turmoil. With encaustic, “one needs to plainly go with the flow and let the wax find its’ place.  Layering the surface of the painting with beeswax is much like the way that my memories are layered and revised in my mind.  Beeswax preserves vivid pigments and adds brilliance for thousands of years just like how my mind preserves my memories as colorful and fresh as the day that they were formed.”
